Darkrooms

TheDarkroom is a professional photography lab, with darkrooms fully equipped for black and white and color processing. The darkrooms are open 24 hours a day for students of TheDarkroom and can also be rented for use by previous students and photographers.

Your darkroom, 24 hours a day

TheDarkroom was created to allow participants to work 24 HOURS A DAY NON STOP. All black & white and color processes are possible here. From film developings up to 13x18cm (5"x7") to prints up to 50x60cm or more, TheDarkroom will meet all of your requirements. We know that many photographers enjoy working in the darkroom overnight, so if you book a minimum of two days you get your personal key with which you may enter the space at any time, day and night, depending on your schedule.
It is required that you already have a basic knowledge of film developing and printing, otherwise it isn't possible to rent the space.
We do supply chemicals but we do not supply photographic paper.
Enrolled students have access with no restrictions to the darkrooms. Darkroom fee is included in the course fee. 

Three darkrooms

We have three darkrooms equipped with 25 professional enlargers by Durst and IFF. All of them can print up to 6x9cm film format. The maximum size of your picture can be over 70x100cm.
We have 2 enlargers for film format up to 13x18cm (5x7in). Condensors, diffusers or cold light heads are available on all the machines to satisfy any relish.
Colour RA4 print is carried out in automatic roller machine for up to 50 cm(19 in) width paper, for any length you would like.

Photo Lab

Equipped space to work on any photographic process, like color or black and white, archive processings, on toning your B/W prints or on film developing up to 13x18cm (5x7in) format. Tanks are available to develop up to five 35mm reels all in once. Any tool, like graduated cylinders, thermometers, funnels, jugs are at hand. A dust-free film drying cabinet is available for fast drying your films. Processings guides, chemicals and developing times are available.

Key Policy

Keys are distributed during office hours (see home page). In case of a one-night or one-day rental, participants are kindly asked to come 12 hours ahead of time to receive their key. Keys are not released for rental over 12 hours after the request is made. For longer rental periods, participants can show up within 24 hours ahead of time. In this case, keys can be released during the 24 hour period before the starting rental time.
For weekend rentals the minimum period is 2 days (Saturday and Sunday) and the key should be requested on Friday, during office hours (see home page).

A Deposit of euro 50,00 is required for the key. The key must be returned within 12 hours after the rental period (during office hours) and then the deposit will be returned. Please read the Conditions
