Founded and Directed by Michele Pero, photograper and war photoreporter, TheDarkroom, School of Photography and Visual Communication of Florence, offers Academic and Intensive courses for students of all ages and from all over the world, who are interested in learning and deepening their knowledge about this art.

Courses, according to a wide range of schedules, are conceived for those who want to become professional Photographers, as well as for those who want to have fun with Photography while obtaining a solid foundation in the medium. The length of the courses depends on the program chosen. At the end of the  THREE YEAR ACADEMIC COURSE, students have the necessary knowledge to start their career as Photographers.

Starting right away from the basic classes, programs are conceived to give students the best level of knowledge about light, lighting and aesthetics. From the beginning students are taught to shoot without the help of a light meter. For the duration of the course, particular attention is given to practical experience and darkrooms, labs and digital labs work. During specialization courses in the second and third year, students approach Advanced Digital, Portrait, Still life, Fashion, Photoreportage, Advertisement,  Journalism, Creative writing and the Writing techniques for the Media, Artcrafts reproduction, Food Photography, Web Design, Graphic Design, Editing, Communication and Marketing, Semiotics, Aesthetics and Self Promotion. 
Courses are held by highly qualified teachers and professionals specialized in various disciplines like photoreportage, still-life, fashion, glamour, ancient printing techniques, and by webmasters, graphic designers of great experience.
The president of the company, academic director and program supervisor, Mr. Michele Pero, is a famous photoreporter <http://www.michelepero.it>. His pictures are published on the most important italian magazines as Il Corriere Della Sera, La Repubblica, La Stampa, Il Giornale,  Il Venerdì, Specchio, L'Espresso and many others. His reportage about Kosovo is now a standing show at the Friedensmuseum of Nuernberg. His photojournalistic work is represented by the international press agency Nazca Pictures.
