Materials for the courses
In this section you will find useful information about the equipment and materials required to begin your study in our school.
We strongly suggest not to buy gears before the beginning of the course. You can receive plenty of information about cameras, lenses and the other equipments that best suit your needs. Please read our list below. For any question, please write to academic director Michele Pero: mp@thedarkroom.it
For academic course of photography and multimedia
- a digital camera (DSLR) with a series of lenses, from wideangle to tele, and a flash unit.
- a film camera with manual functions and a lens.
- a tripod
- a laptop computer (we do recommend an Apple, like MacBook 13")
- three external hard drives with fast speed connection
- one extra battery for your digital camera
- one extra memory card for your digital camera
- a flash unit (strobe)
- a memory card reader
- a USB flash drive
You will be informed about other minor materials by our teachers during the course.
For short courses and Pod courses of photography
- a digital camera with one lens.
- a laptop computer (we do recommend an Apple, like MacBook 13")
Apps for the computer
If you do own a Mac, you'll find most of the necessary applications already installed in the machine when you buy if. You should morover get and install: Apple iLife (write&read), Apple Aperture, Adobe Photoshop.
If you do own a Pc: you need to install Windows 7 (please no Vista!), a reliable antivirus, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, Pinnacle (or Adobe Premiere), Adobe InDesign, Office Open Source (better that instead of Microsoft Office), Mozilla Firefox.
You teacher will give you full and detailed information about how to update your current applications to the most suitable for the task.
Other minor apps will be communicated during the course.
