Why TheDarkroom? - TheDarkroom - Professional Photography School in Florence, Photography Courses and Workshops

Why TheDarkroom?

Thanks to the huge success of the past years and the number of students enrolling and graduating at TheDarkroom increasing, this Academic Year the school will be having many new and important changes.

First of all we are moving to new premises. From October 2009 the school will be located in via Antonio del Pollaiolo 172/A, in a new and more spacious building, with three improved darkrooms, two professional labs for development and printing, two shooting studios, one set up with four still life sectors, one with three limbo sets, projection rooms and equipment of professional and unique level.

From this Academic year TheDarkroom school has:

- Improved the number of courses offered;

- Opened a job session with the International Photo AgencyTheDarkroom Photos, where students of our Academic Three Year Photography and Visual Communication program can work starting from the end of the first Academic year! Find attached the list of all the services of our Agency.

- Opened a Publishing House with two magazines already organized and  producing students photography books every year;

- Founded the Travel Experience branch. From January 2010 it will be possible, with the partnership and the support of CANON, to apply for Photography Travel Workshops in many wonderful places around the world both in Italy and abroad. We will offer both geographical workshops and social travel workshops. To apply for the social travel workshops it is necessary to have an advanced knowledge of photography or to be enrolled in one of our Professional  advanced level programs;

- Started a cooperation with POLIMODA < www.polimoda.com > the well known International Fashion Institute of Florence whose President is Ferragamo, the famous fashion designer. In collaboration with Polimoda TheDarkroom offers a Master in Fashion Photography course.

As in the past years all of our programs give students the possibility to use our facilities 24 hours a day free of charge for the open studio in our darkrooms, digital labs  and photo studios. In fact, students will have, like before, the lab key, a personal microchip, so  they can come day or night.

All of our courses can be combined with an Italian language course lasting one week or more.

The Informatics exam, part of the First Year Photography and Visual Communication Program, allows the students to obtain the European Computer Driving License (ECDL), that certifies the students capacity to use a personal computer, according to their level and specialization.

The School also helps students find accomodation while in Florence, and in collaboration with job agencies, the School helps students also find a part time, full time or a week end job, to be conciliated with the school career.

Another piece of information is the "Enjoy TheDarkroom branch" that will include things such as information on organized cultural tours  and visits to interesting places during the week-ends, which will help students to prepare for the many portfolios required in the programs, and information on movie projections both in Italian and English that will be held once a week.
