Advanced Level Course Overview
The three-month long photography and multimedia course – advanced level – is for those who have an intermediate knowledge of how to use a camera and computer and have already studied architectural photography and photojournalism, in addition to web and video subjects.
The advanced course aims at further study the most technical aspects of the photographer’s career: commercial photography and still-life, artistic and fashion photography. The course is offered to students who want to better and complete their photography training, by studying the most advanced aspects of photography and multimedia.
This course is aimed at amateurs also, who meet the entry requirements listed below. Most importantly, the advanced course is offered to students who are interested in further study what was taught during the beginner and intermediate level courses, and whose professional training will be completed during this course. The quarter course aims at continuing the study of different aspects of professional photography and multimedia; also, its goal is to complete the students’ training in multimedia, with the creation of their own website, video podcasting, blogging, social networking, both digital and printed portfolio.
Three-month levels as part of the One-year academic course
The three-month basic, intermediate and advanced level courses are parts of the Photography and Multimedia Academic Professional One-year Course. Extra-EU students can take advantage in taking a three-month block course with no need for VISA, getting out of Europe for a while and then back again to attend the next level. Attending just one ore two levels does not entitle to get the recognized Certificate. In this case a Certificate of Attendance will be issued for the attended levels only.
Goals and Objectives
Since the course is aimed at the students who have completed the preparatory beginner and intermediate level courses, they must have a solid background in the subjects previously taught in those levels. Once completed their professional training, they can have access to the final exam for to obtain the professional certificate.
The main subjects of the advanced course are commercial and fashion photography. For the entire duration of the course, the students will work on multiple digital portfolios, based on specific topics analyzed during the course. Furthermore, they will create their final printed portfolio, study graphic design and layout as well as photo editing, complete the final collective photo exhibition.
The final photo exhibition takes place in Florence in a gallery or local where show-case of photographs is possible. The final exhibition is an asset of our course for to showcase student’s work and to step in the important phase of art exhibition. Florence is the right location to begin to publicize your works. Get Professional Certificate through our recognized institute
The “Professional Photographer and Multimedia Expert” can be easily employed in a wide and diverse range of fields, such as photography, publishing industry, video and audio making. This professional figure can take pictures and videos that demand different styles and techniques, combining creativity and technical knowledge.
After completing the entire program (all three levels) and successfully passing both the modules and final exams, the student be issued a Professional Certificate in Photography and Multimedia Communications. Our Professional Certificate is recognised by the Ministry of Italian Education, in accordance with the law. (For more information, see the “Professional Certificate” web page). For attending just one or two of the modules, the student will be accredited with a Certificate of Attendance only.
Prerequisites and requirements
The course starts from an advanced level, so a previous knowledge of photography of our intermediate level is required. Please check out all subject matters taught in the basic and intermediate level for assessment. Students should own gears and materials as listed at the page Student Guide.
Attention, please: this course is taught in English language only. A quite good knowledge of English language is necessary to attend the course. It is recommended to attend an English language course before or beside the Academic course. You can add a Combined English language and Academic course, in order to study both subject matters and take advantage of the skills provided by our Academic courses.

Month 1 (Module 7). Fashion photography
Subject matters: Fashion and portraiture photography.
On the study of professional lighting as a form of communication associated with the aesthetics of the taking phase. In this module, the students will acquire an awareness of the communicative power of photography and develop their own personal style of visual communication.
At the end of this module the students are able to operate in a professional photographic studio, use of lighting equipment and large format cameras independently.

Trends in fashion photography from the 20s to today

The fashion shooting studio
Use of the light meter on the set
Lighting schemas for fashion photography
Rembrandt and butterfly lighting
Bounce and diffused lighting

Study of important photographers which work or left their footprint in this subject matter field.
Month 2 (Module 8). Portfolio and final exhibition
Subject matters: Personal portfolio and final group exhibition making
In this course students will develop their professional portfolios and learn different methods of self promotion. Students will produce images in the field of photography that they intend to pursue professionally, such as photo-journalism, advertisement, fashion, and others.
During the course, they will discuss various types of portfolios by means of exchange, and will learn about various useful methods of self-promotion, like brochures, business cards, networking, digital portfolio for websites.
Beside the development of the professional portfolio students will prepare their prints for the final school exhibition, where al the best produced during the year will be presented in a final show in a gallery in town.

Month 3 (Module 9). Video Production
Subject matters: Video production and podcasting for photographers
The students are introduced to photography in motion with techniques of video production, directing and editing, both with the camera and the computer.
The buddy photographers cannot ignore the professional video production techniques to integrate their commercial offer with the modern demands of multimedia market. They are therefore aware of the use of video as a means of propaganda both personal and retail offerings to their prospective customers.
During this module the students will prepare podcasts and commercial videos working on their final portfolios and on the images made for the school final exhibition.
The video so produced will be used for the promotion of the student as a buddy photographer on both their websites and social networks.
