This is a darkroom photography workshop for to learn how to develop a roll of black and white film in total autonomy at home and how to print negatives with the enlarger.

You will learn how to develop a roll of film in your home’s toilettes with little effort and great satisfaction. During the experience you will see what’s needed, what are the gears you must have and what you can avoid. You will also learn how to use chemicals in a safe way and how to dispose them at the end.

Black and white analog photography is back. Today we have a choice of materials available to purchase which is much larger than the one in the recent past. Nevertheless many believe it’s hard to carry out for the large amount of equipment needed. That’s not true. With this experience we want to highlight how easy is to carry out a film development by one’s house with a very limited amount of gears and chemicals.

At the end of the course you will be able to reproduce the development procedure at home. You will have a negative to bring back with you, ready for a scan or for a further next session of film enlargement in darkroom.

What you need to bring

This darkroom photography workshop is designed for beginners of darkroom photography. You should be already aware of how to take photographs with your analog camera. The program requires to show up with at least two rolls of black and white film completed and out of the camera. Chemicals and photo paper are included in the course fee.

Films are not all the same. There are more suitable films for to learn photography and others which are a bit more harder to beginners. Please make your choice following our list of films before to purchase something wrong. Contact us in advance in case of any doubt.

Accommodation around the facility in Città di Castello, Tiber Valley, Umbria, Italy.

This photography workshop is held in Città di Castello, in the middle of the Umbrian Tiber Valley. This package does not include accommodation, lunch and dinner. These must be arranged personally by each participant.

We can help you with the possible tips and solutions to find cheap accommodation such as B&B, country houses and hotels which are available nearby the workshop location.

A very cheap solution is the church hostel Foresteria Dei Servi located in the nearby town Sansepolcro.

Just inquiry us if you need some help.
