What will we do in the photography and multimedia online course of professional training?

The photography and multimedia online course of professional training aims to introduce you to all sectors of modern professional photography, including its artistic and practical aspects.

We will study many fundamental subjects and do continuous practice on them throughout the year. In the specific, we will do:

  • analogue photography in black and white, to begin with an aspect that will be fundamental for the construction of an original and artistic proposal
  • operate in a darkroom and learn how to work with analog photography and film
  • study architectural photography
  • documentary photography, photo reportage and storytelling and prepare articles for publication on the web
  • product photography and artistic still life
  • learn to manage a model on set with fashion photography, both in the studio and outdoors
  • make the best use of cameras, lenses and digital applications such as those for the management of photo libraries and Photoshop
  • study the communication languages ​​of photography, its history and the current proposals of market trends
  • prepare exhibitions and projects
  • make excursions and trips to photograph in places of interest for the current program
  • find out how to convey our photographs on the video
  • build a website that will become your first business card to present you on the market once the course is finished.

At the end of the study plan you will have the necessary skills to be able to operate independently in the areas of competence of the photography and multimedia market. You will also be able to start personal projects as a free-lance, or propose yourself to photographic studios and agencies in the various fields of expertise, as an assistant able to actively operate in production, becoming a resource for the owner, company or agency.

How will we carry out our lessons?

This Photography and Multimedia Online Course is designed to be delivered part as a distance learning course, part as a practical full-immersion course.

During the week we will connect online via video conference with the teacher and all the other students enrolled in the course. We will work in a shared environment and theoretical classes will run beside practical assignments to be carried out during the class’s unfolding. The teacher will show you how to operate on gears and will give you advices for to improve your skills and make you ready to meet for the week-end outdoor practical class.

Weekend field trips and overnight stay

In one day during the weekend, it may be Saturday or Sunday, the class will gather in some location for to practice what learned so far. The outdoor location will be some are in Florence for the first classes, then we will move to outside of Florence also for to cover specific topics provided by the program.

In same cases the outdoor class will cover the entire weekend, so we will stay on location overnight. You should be comfortable with travelling and being ready to move around Tuscany for to get the most out of our professional training program.

Internship for Photography and Multimedia Online Course

We can help you attend training periods (internships) at photographic, video, web, graphic and multimedia arts production facilities in and around Florence. Ask us how to do it.

It is necessary to attend the full Photography and Multimedia Online Course to have the opportunity to access the internship with our professional partners.

Access requirements

The course is aimed at beginners. No previous requirement required to access.

In order to start this course you need to have at least one analog and one digital camera, a tank for film development, a laptop.

Extra gears necessary in the long term

These minimal equipment are needed in the beginning. However, for to learn a profession you need the right tools. The school makes its equipment available for the demonstration purposes of the various lessons, but each of you will then have to purchase equipment in order to get the most out of the program. As the program unfolds, you will understand the need to expand your equipment to the extent that it will be useful both for learning the subjects covered and for the next starting of your career.

We will never ask you to buy brand-new gears. You can set up a nice equipment by searching on the second hand market. Our teachers will help you in all these choices, because they are there also for this, to help you with all the technical information necessary for future purchases. Meanwhile, you can find more information on the equipment that will be needed by reading our Student Guide section.

Extra costs

The course fee covers the entire year of lectures, both online and face-to-face. Students are asked to provide for their personal gears to use for the course, to pay for any transfer to class location and eventual overnight stay.

Consumer materials such as films and photo papers are up to the student. Basic chemicals for the analog classes are provided by the school. Specific chemicals for to cover special projects are up to the class for a shared use.

Some specific gears, such as view camera, are provided by the school. Every student should own a basic photographic equipment for to cover all aspects of the program.



Each module addresses and develops a topic of fundamental importance for the photography and multimedia sector. A module has a duration ranging from two to four weeks, but the projects that we will start within a module will be carried out throughout the year, until the final exhibition.

Module 1 – analogue photography and darkroom.

What we will do in this course: classic film photography, basic techniques for operating your camera, use of lenses, exposure, film development and darkroom printing, fundamental composition techniques.

Module 2 – digital photography, archiving, basic post production, basic composition and photographic language.
