Description
Basic course for beginners to approach the world of videomaking in Florence.
Videomaker is a new career: the professional must have numerous skills, and be able to play different professional roles.
Both director and screenwriter, director of photography and editor: quality of video depends on balance between creativity and technical skills of videomaker.
Lessons will be divided into 5 main thematic areas and will cover all the main aspects of video production:
Shooting technique and its main elements such as diaphragm, lenses, depth of field, focus, exposure, framing, camera movements;
Digital video theory: recording formats, quality and compression;
Audio recording: how to orientate yourself in every aspect of job, types of microphone;
Postproduction: editing theory, setting up a project, exporting;
Ideation and planning of a video project;
Access requirements
Course for beginners who want to approach the world of videomaking, no previous knowledge are needed.
Equipment required: (not mandatory) reflex or mirrorless with video functions; laptop
Goals of the course
The goals of the course is to provide basic knowledges and skills necessary to start a career in videomaking, both for professionals and for advanced amateurs.
Main topics covered by the program: shooting skills, film grammar, photographic basic skills, use of videocameras, dslr or mirrorless, recording formats, videomaking skills, video editing theory and technique.

Shooting technique: exposure, aperture, shutter, ISO sensitivity, color temperature, white balance, choice of optics, depth of field, focus.
Tools: differences between DSRL, mirrorless and videocameras; chance and restriction, equipment choice.
Film grammar: shots, planes, fields
Choosing the right lens for your shooting
Moving shooting tools: an introductory panoramic on slider, gimball, drone and how to use a steady device for your hand-held camera
Recording formats and “CODEC”
Audio recording: in-camera recording vs external microphone recording.
Postproduction: general settings of a new project to start
Editing of the scenes: assembly techniques with Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe Premiere
Delivering your finished video: export formats.
Conception and planning of a video project: the style, the choice of the medium.
Practical shooting of samples of short movies, clips, spots, podcasts
