Subject matters: Architectural and interior photography, view camera, digital post production, Adobe Photoshop.
This is the course dedicated to the study of architectures and interiors and how to make proper descriptive pictures out of them. Students will learn how to handle perspective problems and how to fix distortions with the reproduction of buildings and interiors art a professional level. They will learn how to prepare excellent high-end images ready for a professional usage.
During this program the class work outdoor for the most of the time, on locations for to shoot buildings. Please be prepared to walk in town for large part of the class time.
Prerequisites and requirements
This is an intermediate level course, not for to learn how to use the camera. Students are admitted to this course if they demonstrate confidence in the use of their cameras and the computer.
Please consider that some classes will be held outdoor, strolling in town and outskirts with gear and equipment, for to shoot architectural pictures. An attitude to walk and to carry gears is necessary.
Students should own other gears and materials as listed at the page 'Materials for the courses' under the section 'Student Guide'.
Goals of the course
In this course students learn how to shoot architectures properly; how to work with diverse camera formats, from digital to film, including the large-format view camera; acquire skills in the use of the film scanner; begin working with Photoshop for image correction dedicated to architecture and post-production for this specific field of professional photography; build a portfolio of images dedicated to architectures; discover how masters of this art have developed their own style.
Extra fees
Students are required to purchase films for the view camera, chemicals for the darkroom processes and (eventually) photo paper for to print the photos taken. All materials can be purchased in photo stores in Florence. All materials are intended for group usage, so students will share their expenses in class. At this time an exact quotation cannot be delivered, since it depends on many factors (included number of students). A fair quote may be around 150-250 Euro in total per class for the entire month.
